Opening day of spring turkey season is the Super Bowl to turkey hunters in the Southeast. Before this season gets underway, we had a section of our farm in Mississippi that had grown up over head high in places from being left alone for a few years. With this doing us no good for holding turkeys we decided to open it up and create some new scratching and loafing opportunities. It’s amazing just what taking a disc and turning the dirt can do when it comes to attracting and holding more turkeys. Then we head back to Florida to sight in and pattern our shotguns. Patterning your turkey gun should happen at least once a year. It gives me peace of mind knowing what my pattern looks like while I tote it around the woods.
