The DUTV Crew heads out on a swing through the wide-open spaces of the West coast. The adventure begins on the beautiful public land habitat of Summer Lake, Oregon. The DUTV crew shares in the excitement of the opening day of the waterfowling season with some wonderful volunteers from the Summer Lake area. We learn how the passion to pass the rich tradition of waterfowling onto the next generation spurred DU volunteer Ed Mays to take men and women for the first time, beginning a lifelong commitment to conservation as well as the legacy of waterfowling for these new hunters. The DUTV Crews time in Summer lake offers a unique look at their hunting situation, early mornings, and kayaks across the lake, interviews with the WMA managers set into perspective the importance of this wonderful WMA. Also, see how Ducks Unlimited adapted to the COVID climate, pivoting a historic banquet event held on the opening weekend every year to remain successful for the ducks. Next on the west coast swing, the crew joins up with DUTV host Doug Larsen for a stop in the little big town of Bend, Oregon. Joining Doug is a bend DU volunteer Chris Dittman and his son Jacob and a couple of other great local volunteers. We learn about the collaboration between the Bend and Summer Lake chapters and how unique projects like nesting boxes in the urban areas of Bend, Oregon sparked an interest in people in the community to get involved in conservation and Ducks Unlimited who might not otherwise.
