This episode is what California is all about. Flooded rice fields or pastures with tons of Specks and Snows. We are in the heart of the Sacramento Delta which is one of the most prestigious and storied areas for waterfowl hunting in the states. This is a 3am wakeup call with tons of work to be done. We load the field with Live Snows, Live Speck decoys and Last Pass Silhouettes and brush in the S.U.B. blinds on a hedge row to get us dialed in.
Mario is joined by some California royalty, David Bingham an MLS Soccer player, Scott Forrester and Steve Hawkinson from Kupt Up Custom Duck Straps as well as Tom the owner of the private island and the duck club we get to shoot.
There are tons of Specks and Steve’s calling definitely puts the Specks on us, but the Snows did not show up in the numbers we saw from the day before. Just like hunting goes, the overcast skies, hardly any wind makes it tough, but we make the most of it.
Bonus on this episode is Steve walks us through his business and how he comes up with probably the coolest, high quality leather goods in the country. I have known him for 20 years and he bought the business a few years ago and has just taken it to another level. His real job is a CA Highway Patrolman so when he retires, he can go full in on Kupt Up.
