Every year, especially in Ohio my home state I try and target a specific deer. That is just the challenge that is within me and I enjoy that. I like to pick out a specific deer and play the chess match. When I was younger and growing up I can remember spending hours on the road and looking at fields just trying to find a big deer. Now, with the new technology of trail cameras it allows you to get a lot more information with a lot less intrusion into your property. Because I believe that 80% of killing a big deer has to do with intrusion factors. This past year I have spaced out some cameras and finally I had a really nice deer show up on the farm that I had recognized from years past. Here he was a few years since I had seen him last and he blew up compared to what he was before. At that moment I knew that all of my focus would be on a buck that I called Roman.

Kansas Splits • Whitetail Edge
Kansas is one of my favorite states to hunt, especially during late October and early November when the bucks are cruising looking for does. I don’t know what it is about Kansas but calling whether it be by rattling with the Black Rack or using the Extinguisher Grunt Call is so effective. The b...
