The TN velvet hunt in August has been a really nice opportunity for us to get in the woods and get to try to kill a big deer before we start up harvest on the farm. We started trying to get an inventory and pattern these deer in the end of June. There was a bachelor group of 20 or so bucks living in this CRP field on our land. We got 3 sets hung around this field and had multiple shooters in the daylight leading up to this hunt. Hunter drove up from Alabama through Hurricane Laura to film for the weekend. With it being only a 3 day hunt you don’t have a choice but to make it work. After battling through the hurricane messing up their pattern a bit, see if we can get it done anyways. The “Island” always makes for some wild adventures.
