This hunt is about much more than ducks.
Join the South Carolina Wildlife Partnership for a morning chasing ringnecks on a privately managed South Carolina duck impoundment opened to public hunters through the partnership. From setting decoys before daylight to managing water levels, planting food, scouting birds and controlling hunting pressure, we get an inside look at what goes into creating and maintaining quality waterfowl habitat. But the real story is opportunity. The South Carolina Wildlife Partnership works with private landowners and the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources to provide public hunting opportunities on privately owned and managed properties. On this morning, several groups get an opportunity that many hunters would otherwise never experience — and one generous landowner explains why opening his property to others has become such a rewarding part of managing the land. It’s habitat. It’s conservation. It’s hunting. And most importantly, it’s sharing the outdoors with others.
