Nobody wants to make a nearly 200-yard muzzleloader shot, until you see that bull in the field.
On this episode of Bull Rush, the film crew is right Outside of Ruidoso, New Mexico, with Mossy Oak's Dudley Phelps and the guys at Graham's Guide Service.
After sighting in his muzzleloader, Dudley is pretty confident for his first elk hunt but is also wary of making a 200 yd+ shot. Knowing this, Joseph Graham tries to slip us all in on some bulls in the early A.M. before they head into the canyons. We proud Mississippians aren’t used to the difference in elevation, but we (quietly) huff and puff our way through the pines to the sound of bugles and the scent of sage. Joseph suddenly stops everyone’s reverie at the landscape. He spots the bull he has had an eye on… at 189 yards.
Dudley takes a beat to calm his nerves, steady his hand, and fires! We spectators get to see lots of smoke, a scattering of cows, and a bull that just casually walks away.
So the whole crew won't possibly bump that elk, Joseph heads out alone to track the bull down when he hears a hopeful sign.
Watch and find out what (hopefully) went down!
