Ducks Unlimited’s film chronicles a special father-son reunion amid the rice fields and sloughs near Stuttgart, Arkansas.
Bill Allen was a long-time regional director for Ducks Unlimited in Minnesota. His son, Barry, is a current DU regional director in Montana.
“Dad and I sat in duck blinds for almost 50 years together, from Canada all the way throughout the United States. He started taking me when I was very, very young, He would put me on his shoulders and carry me out to the marsh,” said Barry.
The Allens reunited in Arkansas last January to chase waterfowl, spend some time catching up and reflect on their shared commitments to outdoor traditions and conservation.
“It’s all of our jobs to leave a legacy,” said Barry. “Dad started that with me, and I’m passing that down to my son and my daughter, and they’re passing it to their kids.”
“Being able to spend any time with him in the duck blind is the finest. There’s nothing better, nothing I enjoy more,” said Bill. “It’s very important to me that the legacy is carried forward.”
