2019 Championship Pt. 2 • Collegiate Bass Fishing
29m
"It’s the final day of the 2019 BoatUS Collegiate Bass Fishing Championship presented by Bass
Pro Shops. At the end of tournament competition, a National Champion will be crowned and a
deserving school will be recognized as the 2019 Bass Pro Shops School of the Year presented
by Abu Garcia. The stakes are high, and so are the nerves. Who will win? Anglers will find out
after a full day of eight hours out on the water.
The major storyline entering Championship Day is the possibility for Bethel University’s Cole
Floyd and Carter McNeil to repeat as champions. Never before in the history of the ACA and
Bass Pro Shops Collegiate Bass Fishing Series has a school, or even the same two angler
pairing, won this event in back-to-back years. Floyd and McNeil weighed in 22.85 pounds on
day one to take the lead. That total was good enough to best second place by nearly half a
pound. Entering this final day, we will be closely monitoring the Bethel anglers to see if they can
make collegiate bass fishing history.
A total of four bags over the 20 pound mark were weighed in on day one. The top 10 is
separated by roughly five and a half pounds. Many teams inside the top 10 have a realistic shot
entering the final day. One big bite could be a difference maker. Day one big bass was
weighed in by LSU at 8.90 pounds. Pair that with a limit of three to four pounders and a team in
the back of the pack can make a charge.
Following the weigh-in, a winner will be named for the Bass Pro Shops School of the Year
presented by Abu Garcia. The final day of the 2019 BoatUS Collegiate Bass Fishing
Championship presented by Bass Pro Shops promises great competition. Some fish will be
caught, some will be lost, and a winner will be crowned. Tune in to watch the most prestigious
event in all of college bass fishing."
