On this episode of Whitetail Edge, team member Jeff Klump (new owner of Novix Treestands) takes us through a season packed with hard work, habitat improvements, and dedication that all come together in pursuit of a target buck he calls Mickey. From spraying and fertilizing bean plots to planting switchgrass and carving out bedding benches, Jeff shows how year-round work creates opportunity in the fall. After close calls during bow season, opening day of Illinois firearm season brings the long-awaited encounter. With his Savage 20 gauge and a carefully placed Novix setup, Jeff finally gets his shot at Mickey—and seals the deal on a buck that’s been playing cat and mouse all year. But the story doesn’t end there; Jeff capitalizes again later in the season over standing beans from a Redneck Blind, proving that strategy and preparation pay off in big ways. Join Jeff and the Whitetail Edge crew for an emotional, action-packed episode filled with lessons on habitat management, persistence, and the thrill of chasing big Midwest whitetails.
